We have developed a treatment for paralysis in India using a combination of Ayurved and allopathic medications. I have a question about the Ayurved meds that we are using in our treatment. I was wondering if you could help me find the answer because I have contacted everyone I know including the manufacturers of the meds themselves without any success.

Basically we have been receiving conflicting information about the presence of mercury, arsenic and lead in the meds that we are using. Some pharma reps have told us that the Ayurved meds contain unacceptably high amounts of these toxic elements and are therefore banned in the west. Some have told us that they dont contain any such elements. Other people have told us that the ppm of these toxic elements is too low to be banned, and still others have told us that due to the refinement process, during manufacturing these elements lose their toxicity in the finished product. I have contacted the manufacturers for clarification but didnt get any reply from any of them !

Of course this is a critical issue. If indeed our meds contain unacceptably high levels of toxins then well never get approval for use in the western countries, however, if the ppm is very low or if the toxicity is somehow removed in the manufacturing process then were fine.

Can you refer us to some expert (perhaps a professor in an Ayurved college or something) who might be able to answer these questions or who might have better success in contacting the manufacturers and getting some quantitative answers from them regarding the ppm of toxic elements in our meds ? The key questions regarding the specific Ayurvedic meds used in our treatment are:

1. What is the ppm concentration of toxic elements such as mercury, lead & arsenic?
2. Is the toxicity removed from these elements in some way (that is recognized by western science) such that they are no longer deemed to be toxic when consumed ?
3. Are these meds approved for use in some western countries already?
4. Do any of the manufacturers conform to the International GMP standards (General Manufacturing Practices)?

I also have one more general question about the use of Ayurved products in Europe. Is the sale and use of all ayurved medications approved in all European countries or only some ayurved products ? Who can we speak with in order to determine if the Ayurved meds used in our treatment are permitted for use in various European countries (England, Germany, France, Italy, etc) or about the regional regulations pertaining to same?

We will be happy to provide specific information about the Ayurved medications in question used in our treatment to whomever is able to help us answer the forgoing questions.

Yours,
Vivek Burhanpurkar
